PIERCE BROWN
It doesn’t get much better than win- ning a championship...unless you win four of them, and that’s exactly what Pierce Brown did at the 2018 FMF California Classic. The Utah native contested various B classes through- out the weekend and was utterly dom- inant from Thursday to Sunday. His worst finish of the weekend came in the form of a fourth place in the open- ing Schoolboy 2 moto, but that just happened to be the only time through- out the entirety of the weekend that Brown finished off the podium. The Orange Brigade rider collected a total of seven moto wins, easily clinch-
ing the four championships that he accrued throughout the event. He was utterly unstoppable in the 250 B division as he set the fastest lap in all three motos and led every single lap but one, showing his competitors only the orange of his rear fender from start to finish. Brown’s starts were
the key to his success on any given day at Pala, starting up front and ultimately finishing up front at every opportunity. Brown’s first year in the B class was in no way short of positive results and it’s easy to assume that he’ll keep moving in the right direction as the season moves forward.
JALEK
SWOLL
Jalek Swoll proved his toughness and determination at the beginning of the 2018 season after returning from a gnarly hand injury that he sustained at Mini Os last November. The Rockstar Energy Husqvarna backed rider immediately claimed his first major championship aboard a 250 at the Daytona RCSX, com- ing out on top of the 250 B division. Swoll snagged another number one plate in Schoolboy 2 a couple of weeks later at the JS7 Freestone Spring Championship and looks
to be back on form as he’s always shown a certain level of dominance throughout his career. He has three Loretta Lynn’s Amateur National Championships to his name as
well as four additional podiums, but some bad luck and bike problems held him back from padding those stats in 2017. The rider out of Bel- leview, Florida has stood on the top step of the podium at practically ever amateur motocross race with clout in the country and the smart money says he’ll continue to do so in 2018.
