>> The rookie Chase Sexton is a familiar face at the front of the field in the 250 class this year and this weekend in Phoenix the #40 further proved he has a future in the sport. Sexton was the 5th fastest 250 rider in qualifying just under a second slower then the fastest qualifier and points leader Joey Savatgy. The Geico Honda rider was able to race to a 3rd place start to finish heat, sending him directly to the main event with 5th gate pick. Sexton came around 10th off the start in the main event and after the opening lap he was just outside of the top five in 7th. Sexton worked his way around the #11 veteran of the sport Kyle Chisholm to take 6th place early on. While running in a respectful 6th Chase was able to capitalize on the fallen Mitchell Oldenburg. Chase then started running his own laps fending off Taft for the entire main. Chase has been graduated out of amateur racing for some time now but this is his first year racing Supercross due to injuries. Although he has struggled with injuries and crashes so far in this professional career, you wouldn’t be able to tell as the #40 is already looking like a vet. It would take a near miracle for Chase to get in the running for a championship this year but one cool fact is that after four rounds of racing he is sitting just 1 point behind mentor and friend Christian Craig. It’ll be very interesting to see who comes out on top at the end of the series between those two. Big things to come for the #40 be sure to keep an eye open for Sexton as he makes his way towards the top.
