ALEX MARTIN
What a story Alex Martin has been so far this season. The eight-year pro finally broke through to grab his first ever moto win last season after years of mediocrity. Martin was always a top ten/fifteen rider with the occasional top five throughout his first seven seasons as a pro. He bounced around a plethora of smaller
privateer level teams and never really got a chance to show his true potential. He was forced to sit back and watch as every one marveled over his little brothers back to back championship runs in the 250 class the past two years and I think that is what lit a fire under him. 2015 was by far his best overall season as a pro and it was just good enough to land him a spot with his brother on the Star Racing Yamaha squad. He finally had his chance on a factory team and knew he could not let it go to waste. He began training vigorously and after subpar finishes in supercross, he completely dropped the hammer outdoors and is now a serious title contender. He stunned everyone in the industry with his unreal speed and endurance at the first few rounds. He looked more like his brother Jeremy than Jeremy did! He even notched his first career overall win at Glen Helen. It was such an emotional win for Alex after all those years of struggle. He now has some ground to make up in the championship standings after a bike failure in moto one at High Point but do not count out the will and determination of Alex Martin.
