MIKE ALESSI
One of the most dominant amateur riders to ever throw his leg over a dirt bike, projected as someone able to rival Carmichael and Stewart, by those standards Alessi
has been a bit underwhelming. But, this was a long time ago and Mike Alessi could be considered a veteran of the sport at this point in time. He didn’t have the easiest time transporting his speed from amateurs to the professional ranks, the problem mainly being with the specific discipline of Supercross. Alessi never won a 250 main event during his time in the regional championships nor has he been able to win more than a heat race in the 450 class. The most important facet of his game is the way that he gets out of the gate, therefore developing a reputation as a bit of a holeshot specialist. His trademark starts have been a pivotal part of his success so far this year, often putting himself up front early and using his experience to maintain his position and put in a decent result. He has improved drastically as a Supercross rider since bursting onto the pro scene in the mid 2000’s. His whoop speed has essentially doubled and he seems to be much more comfortable on a Supercross track, being able to charge on the bike the same way that he does outdoors. Alessi has put in a solid string of results right around the top ten and has been steadily improving as the season stretches onward. Will the main man at MotoConcepts be able to pull another holeshot and stick it inside the top ten this weekend in Massachusetts?
