VINCE FRIESE
Vince Friese has made a reputation for himself over years of racing that is perfectly aligned
with the MotoConcepts team that employs him. When either of their names are mentioned, controversy is never that far away. Whether it was the laser gate incident with Jeff Alessi at the 2013 Washougal National, the proceed- ing meltdown from team manager Tony Alessi, or the bust up that Friese was involved in with Peick at the beginning of
this season - MotoConcepts always seems to be making headlines. Friese has a reputation for someone who isn’t afraid
to make a dirty pass which has gathered him quite a few enemies over the years. Weston Peick is one of those enemies and the two of them came together multiple times at the opening round of SX at Anaheim I, the second incident eventually leading to blows. Freise was put on indefinite probation following this incident, therefore forcing him to ride much more cau- tiously since the opening round. He has borrowed a page out of the MotoConcepts handbook and has been killing his starts this year, but he struggles to stay up front when he gets the good jump off the gate. If Friese can put together his opening lap intensity and learn to keep his lap times a bit more consistent within the midst of the race, he would be in with a shout
of breaking the top 10 in one of the most stacked fields that Monster Energy Supercross has ever had. He’ll be looking to put in some solid rides in order to help him carry as much momentum as possible into the summer where he will contest the
Canadian Pro Motocross series.
