>> The timber of these trees can symbolize both the rise and demise of the competitors of this sport. With the right variables and circumstances, you see the roots of Washougal’s notorious Redwood’s grow to unfathomable heights. On the other hand, those that lack
the proper nutrients will crash, and fail to sprout to their full potential. And nothing can be closer to the ascension of a motocross star than the aforementioned analogy, especially after viewing the pro le of Weston Peick. He wanted to provide his future result with the best possible foundation in practice, laying down an assertive time quick. There simply wasn’t a feeling out process, and by the time the quali cation session had ended, he’d logged consecutive fast circuits, enough to simulate a small moto. He yearned to repli- cate for moto number one, following a start near the seventh place position. The leaders
of Tomac, and Musquin were beginning to sprint away from the eld, and he desired to mimic their pace and line selection. Skying over the outbound single table-top, he glanced to the left, seeing a green blur squeamish away, knowing that he must click into high gear, in order to hold his current position. He would do so, soaring past the agger stands on some of these particular singles, never once slowing down. Sweeping the left hand just past the mechanics area, he could feel slight pressure from Benny Bloss; yet he wouldn’t budge, placing his anchor near this portion of the eld. Hopping out of these sh-hook like, inside grooves, a quick shift into third would propel him out into the following straightaways, never giving his throttle hand a chance to rest. The clock would continue drizzle, tick, tick, tick... and surprisingly his pace began to stay consistent, albeit a mistake had dropped him back considerably in the closing moments. He knew just a few short laps would remain, and twelfth would be his for the taking; he wanted more, and the second moto would be just around the corner. Hoses had sprayed the track throughout the intermission portion of the event, so the initial stages of the second round were a bit slick and sketchy. He had a precise amount of throttle control, making sure to back it down just a hair, in order to keep the pace he desired (taking notes from Justin Hill, as mentioned in the broadcast.) Mellow- ing out would reap dividends, especially in the sections after the nish line; these chicanes had inside lines beginning to be blown out, and he would hover closer and closer to the outskirts of the track. It was working, as he solidi ed himself in the sixth place position, and pulling from Cooper Webb. With his last rounding of the track, he would be in sixth place, strong enough for eighth overall.
