>> After two holeshots and a third place overall at Redbud last weekend, Geico Honda rider Jeremy Martin was hungry for a win as he lined the number 6 machine for the first moto at Southwick. The gates dropped, but Jeremy Mar-
tin was not off to the same kind of start as last weekend as he found himself in tenth place exiting the first turn. The Millville, Minnesota native was no stranger
to rough and sandy tracks so he knew it was time to put his head down and persevere if he wanted to grab the results that he was desperately seeking. J. Mart. quickly moved up to eighth and then found fifth by the halfway point of the moto. With two minutes and two laps remaining, Jeremy Martin makes the pass on Hampshire for fourth and was now only six seconds behind his brother Alex Martin in third. Would the brothers be battling for a podium spot on the last lap? They got close during the remaining minutes of the race, but Jeremy Martin was not able to make the pass and finished the first moto in fourth. After an impressive and steady march from tenth to fourth place in moto number one, Jeremy Martin had to bring the same speed and confidence to the second moto. The thirty-sec- ond card went up and the gates dropped for moto number two. Jeremy was off to a slightly better start than he was in the first moto when he found himself sitting in the sixth place spot early in the race. The entire top ten were in heated battle as the rain started to fall, but the rain would not extinguish the fire within these riders as they kept charging, with or without goggles. Jeremy Martin continued to push through the worsening conditions without gaining or losing any positions and finished the second moto in sixth place. After a 4-6, Jeremy Martin left Southwick with a fifth place overall. Hopefully we see him on the podium at his home track for round eight at Spring Creek.
