>> If the word tactician can be applied to any athlete, in any sport around
the globe, many would zero in on a number 18, who has now retired from the graces of his game. More specifically, they would describe to you his time with team of blue and white. The man you ask? Peyton Manning. The team? The Indianapolis Colts. You know who else replicates this type of tactical thinking, planning, and execution in our world? Lorenzo Locurcio. A man so slick and careful of each line he chooses, his effort almost at times can be character- ized as lackluster, the way he moves around the track with the utmost preci- sion. However, don’t get it twisted, as the first moto of Ironman found him skating around the track as if it were pure ice. Now, it may not have been the outright “fastest” way around the track, but it was enough to be efficient and keep moving forward, all the while saving his energy for both this and the next moto. Lugging the bike a gear tall at times, it wasn’t as if he were out charging everyone in sight, it was just his rolling momentum would add up from turn to turn. Nevertheless, he was showing solid improvement with each go around. His final battle would occur with Luke Renzland, placing him in the 14th spot for moto’s end. The final gatedrop would allow his smoothness to rare its head even more, as you could have guessed; the track became littered with all sorts of new obstacles, bumps, and ruts. Carefully plotting his moves around the grid, a graph of different velocities, and points were connected using his mo- tor, and it was beginning to work, as he was ever so slightly making advance- ments. Receiving encouragement from both team and family, it was all he could do to keep moving forward as the moto became more difficult; however, he was holding onto his foundation of mechanics. It would pay off, as the final flag loomed in the distance, and quickly crept into his proximity. A final finish of eleventh would result in a points paying position, and fifteenth overall, due to the madness of overall scores just in front of him.
