250 SX / 18TH
MAGE / MPG WORDS / LANNAN DESIGN / WILSON
>> Martin Davalos has been a top contender in the 250 class for over a decade now. He can never be counted out for a win and speed is his forte. Martin boasts with natural talent and is always one of the most impressive guys on the track. Through many years, Martin has had many ups and many downs. Unfortunately, he is still chasing the ever sought after championship and had fallen just short again as this season wound down to the final race in Las Vegas. Although the title was out of reach, Davalos was not messing around when the day began in Vegas. He looked very fast in practice and was ready to end the season with a good performance. As the gate dropped for the 250 West Heat, he launched off the gate and filed into 4th place as the first lap began. After jumping the triple side by side with another rider, Martin tried to square the next corner early but incidentally made a little bit of contact with the other rider which nearly resulted in a tip over. He regained his composure quickly and climbed back up to 3rd position by lap two. He would finish there and was ready to end the season with a bang. When the Main began, Martin got an excellent start but as he began to hug the inside for the first corner, another rider was forced to lean against him. The force pushed Davalos’ hand off the bars but luckily he was quickly able to regain control. He was inside the top five at this point and was quickly handed 2nd place due to rider’s mistakes in front of him. Tragedy then struck at the end of the second lap for Davalos as the Vegas soil got the best of him. He would lose nearly ten positions but would get back going in 12th position. Then,
as lap 6 came to a close, Martin made another mistake and was forced to lose another handful of positions. Luckily, he was not hurt and remounted his Husqvarna. He would cruise to an 18th place in Vegas.
