DAKOTA ALIX
250 SX / 22ND
MAGE / MPG WORDS / LANNAN DESIGN / WILSON
>> Dakota Alix has been a regular name in the privateer pits of Supercross for a few years now. His name has become very popular due to his amazing starts and his lighting fast speed to match. His 2017 season has seen some ups and downs but he was looking to go out on a positive note when the day began in Las Vegas. Dakota looked smooth in the desert wind and went on to the East Coast Heat race with confidence. When this race began, Dakota was uncharacteristically slower off the line than usual. He was pinched off quickly as the riders made their way down the long straightaway and Da- kota was forced to shut down the throttle. His instincts then kicked in as he jetted across the track to hug the inside around the first corner. Amazingly, he went from nearly last place to 8th in just one corner. The KTM rider was determined to keep the spot and was even able to pick up one more position by the last lap. He then began to feel pressure from a hard charging Zach Osborne. As the riders entered the final whoop section side by side, Dakota knew there were only a couple of corners to go and he was going to do all he could to hold off the rider. He went to the inside of Zach in the next corner and was able to secure the spot. Boasting with confidence, Dakota was ready to get on the line again, this time for the East/West Main Event. This time, Alix was flying down the start straight near the front of the field. Due
to outside gate pick however, he was forced wide going into the first corner. As he cruised around, an unexpected mid pack crash took a domino like effect which resulted in a violent chain reaction of slams, ending with Alix on the ground. As he got up, he looked to be in serious pain and he would not remount his KTM. Dakota’s night did not end like he wanted in Vegas and hopefully he is not seriously injured.
