>> Cameron McAdoo’s rookie season ended up going pretty well. McAdoo made a splash on the amateur scene just a few years ago and progressed quickly resulting in him going pro this year. He began the 250 East Coast season with the Moto Concepts Racing team and continually improved. His first three finishes were a fifteenth, thirteenth and ninth. The nice performances and his hard dedication caught the eye of Geico Honda. The team would offer him a fill in spot for the injured Chase Sexton and RJ Hampshire as well as a deal for the 2018 season. He jumped on the opportunity but his debut would be delayed as he got injured himself. He finally lined it up last week in East Rutherford where he picked up right where he left off by finishing in ninth. With another week on the new bike under his belt, he aimed to do even better in Las Vegas.
McAdoo qualified in eighteenth position between both coasts. He appeared to be right on pace with his usual speed and geared up for the night of racing. He got his Geico Honda machine out to a good start in the East heat rounding lap one in fourth. He looked solid there early before getting bumped back by #1W Justin Hill. It then appeared as if he was going to hold onto that spot to the end but Mitchell Harrison snuck through on the last lap pushing him to sixth. That still meant he had a straight transfer to the East/West shootout.
McAdoo started the shootout in the middle of the pack. He emerged from the opening
lap in eleventh place. He made some moves early in the race to take over eighth but that would be as far as he’d go. Jimmy Decotis bumped him back to ninth near the midway point and he would then hold that position for a few laps. Things then got wild for him as a battling pair of riders in Harrison and Osborne came barreling by. Both would maneuver around McAdoo sending him to eleventh. He looked to finish there but would pick up a spot as Savatgy would get sent back by Osborne. He would end up with tenth which is
a great performance when considering the race consisted of the best racers from both coasts. The race has him heading into the outdoor season with a nice stroke of confi- dence.
