Such a gut wrenching night for Cunningham as he fell back to 12th on the late stages of the race after running in 5th with only 4 laps to go. Kyle started the night off in 250 heat race #2 and started outside of a qualifying position. The #45 of Cunningham found it difficult to make moves
early in the race was trailing just behind Martinez who was in the final transfer. With a last lap charge Kyle was able to make some moves and to get 8th place. Kyle did his homework in between the heat and the main event because he came out with a vengeance and nearly claimed the holeshot from the outside. With a second place start the Superstore Suzuki rider was well on his way to his best place finish of the season. With first lap, Kyle dropped back to 4th and title contenders Webb, and Savatgy where on their way towards the front of the field pushing him outside of the top 5 by lap 4. With all of the usual front runners making their way back to the front Cunningham found himself dropping positions fast. Luckily with a second wind he was able to regain his composure and and hold a steady pace. With early podium contenders Alex Martin and Mitchell Harrison making mistakes Kyle found himself back inside the top 5 near the late stages of the race. On the fifteenth and final lap the Suzuki rider made a mistake and dropped all the way back to 12th with a lap time of 1.01:082 which was roughly 12-13 seconds slower than the lap times he was running throughout the whole main event.
