Friese starts off his night by holding ninth place out of the gate behind Pipes and
Grant. In the third lap, Friese passes Pipes to take over eighth – in the final lap Fri-
ese would jump up to sixth in a last minute charge through the heat.
Friese would kick off the semi with a killer start – but would slip back quickly. Near the end of the race, Friese loses grip in a turn with Weimer right on his tail – causing a brief tangle up. Friese recovers, but not fast enough to salvage a qualifying position, and finds himself headed to the LCQ.
Friese finds hiself in the LCQ, by the first turn he finds himself in fourth battling with Ray. He holds on to his fourth place comfortably – securing his ticket to the main event.
Friese would have a less than glamorous main event – something riders fight their heart out to avoid. He would ride around sixteenth place for most of the race, but manage to make his way up to fifteenth before the final flag was waved.
