>> Jett Reynolds has been at the front of the pack throughout the entirety of the spring nationals, earning himself six number one plates coming into the 2017 JS7 Freestone Spring Championship. The Bakersfield, California native contested five classes down in Wortham, Texas and he managed to win the title in two of them, finishing outside of the top five only twice in all of the races that he contested. Reynolds absolutely dominated the 85cc ranks as he took the title in the (9-12) division as well as the Mini Sr. 1 (12-13) class, and an accom- panying third place in the 85cc (9-13) division. He was also able to show his speed on the supermini by giving everybody a hint of what’s to come in the future -- scoring fourth and sixth place finishes in a stacked Supermini 1 division packed with older competitors. In the 85cc (9-12) class, Reynolds was nearly perfect on his way to two moto victories. He jetted down the start straight in the first moto and immediately established himself at the front of the field with a healthy gap over Wyatt Mattson. Reynolds laid down the fastest lap of the race on the third attempt by setting a time about one second faster than any of his competitors. Fellow Bakers- field boy, Ryder DiFrancesco, applied some pressure to the lead throughout the midpoint of the race, but Reynolds remained composed and kept his head forward as he charged to an uncontested victory. It was the same story in the second moto as the Team Green Kawasaki rider shot out of the gate to another fantastic start, putting himself into the lead on the opening lap. Reynolds wasted no time in getting up to speed as he laid down a heater on the third lap yet again, separating himself from the chasing pack. The young Californian built an advantage of approximately fifteen seconds back to DiFrancesco in second place by the time the check- ered flag was flown, earning himself his seventh number one plate of the spring nationals. In the Mini Sr. 1 class, Reynolds was able to replicate his results from the 85cc (9-12) class by getting out front yet again in the first moto. He found himself engulfed in a battle with his Team Dunlop Elite teammate, Matthew LeBlanc, and the two of them kept it close for the opening half of the race. Reynolds was able to squeak out an advantage towards the end of the race and he eventually crossed the finish line with a comfortable five second lead ahead of his rival. The second moto provided the same ‘ole song and dance as the Team Green Kawasaki rider cemented himself in the lead from the drop of the gate, doing his best to hold off LeBlanc and Maximus Vohland. The pair of KTMs nipped at his heels for the better part of the moto, but Reynolds showed the composure of a veteran and held on until the checkered flag, subse- quently earning another number one plate to add to his collection.
