>> Stilez Robertson put his Kawasaki on the top step of the podium on multiple occasions throughout the week of racing at the 2017 JS7 Freestone Spring Championship. The Ba- kersfield, California native contested three different classes: Supermini 1; Supermini 2; and Schoolboy 1. Robertson provided everybody with a peek into the future as he was able to
stay competitive in the Schoolboy 1 class on his underpowered supermini machine, using his racecraft and raw speed to put in some respectable results. In the Supermini classes, he was on another level than most of the competition as he took three out of four moto victories ahead of his competitors. The opening Supermini 1 moto was the most tumultuous of the four for the young Californian as he was looking to build off of his stellar results at the Daytona RCSX. He found himself in third place out of the gate behind the Kawasaki pair of Jett Reynolds and Dilan Schwartz. There was quite a bit of action on the first flying lap as Jarrett Frye came charging through the pack and forced his way into second position, dropping Reynolds to fourth as Rob- ertson held his position. The #325 Kawasaki rider was able to match the pace of the Maryland native in second place throughout the remainder of the race, but neither of them proposed a challenge to the leader, and Robertson was forced to settle for third place. In the second moto, the California duo of Schwartz and Robertson put themselves in a battle for the lead directly following the gate drop. The Kawasaki pair battled tooth and nail for the first half of the moto, setting a searing pace as they duked it out for the overall. Robertson began to lose touch with the leader a tiny bit at the midway point of the race, but he inherited the lead on the fourth lap after Schwartz made a minor mistake and lost a chunk of time, therefore putting the rider out of Bakersfield in position to take the overall victory and the number one plate. It was more of the same in the Supermini 2 division as Robertson proved to be somewhat in a class of his own throughout both races. In the opening heat race, he separated himself from the pack early on as he established a sizable gap ahead of his competitors on the opening lap. The Team Dunlop Elite rider consistently grew his advantage throughout the course of the race, setting freakishly consistent lap times as he met the checkered flag with a lead of more than ten seconds. In the second moto, he stormed to the front of the field in a battle with Schwartz yet again, but the battle didn’t last long as the #74 Kawasaki made a mistake on the second lap and put himself out of contention. From that point onward, Robertson did his best to keep things smooth all the way to the checkered flag as he calmly marked the riders behind him, holding his advantage all the way until the finish in order to take his second number one plate of the week.
