Over the next two laps, Reed began to pull Canard, spacing himself by a few bike lengths until the end of lap 4 where Trey began to make his way back towards the rear tire of #22. For a split-second, Reed seemed to have 2nd locked in place but lap five saw Trey apply the pressure and make his move around
Reed forcing Chad to 3rd for the finish. He may have dropped back a few positions but ultimately, Mr. Down Under had worked his way into the main without having to use a secondary race to qualify. In the main, loving the New Jersey traction, Reed had, again, bolted out front early by coming out of the first turn in 2nd behind Roczen. Mirroring his heat, Chad took a different tempo through the first section which opened the door for Seely and Brayton to move past him quickly. Pressured by Dungey over the next two laps, the aging champ buck- led and fell to 5th where he was able to find a rhythm and maintain the position for a while. Roughly five laps later, Tomac started to catch fire moving around Chad, who once again felt himself being hunted by the red 41 of Canard. It was here that time began to slow down, showing reed in 6th for the next ten laps. En route to lap 18, Canard had faltered, falling back to 9th, and was replaced by Anderson in the charge past Chad. On lap 19, Musquin got around Reed soon after Anderson and Reed was smack dab in the middle of the tightest group at the finish. Losing more momentum late in the race, Canard had finally battled his way around Reed pushing everyone’s favorite Australian back to 9th for the second week in a row. Maintaining his 5th place position in the standings, Reed is nowhere near satisfied with his recent reults and heads to a stadium in which he’s familiar in a return to Sam Boyd Stadium outside of Las Vegas. They say gambling is a game of experience, if so, Reed will be placing big bets in round round seventeen.
