>> For many riders in the 250 class, the start to the 2017 Outdoor season has been filled with both good and bad results. Luke Ren- zland is one of those riders. He has started all 3 rounds of the series and finished inside the top 20 multiple times, which is a good result for the young pro. The downside is that he has had a few races out- side the top 20 and even one moto outside the top 30. This weekend in High Point he would finally string together two finishes that re- sembled each other. The first moto began as most have for Luke, mid pack. He made his way into 13th after 3 or so laps into the first moto and by the half way mark he was all the way up to 11th. The first half of the race was going well until he started fading to harder charging riders late in the race. At 11 minutes remaining he began losing posi- tions and ended up falling all the way back to 15th at race end. The end result isn’t that bad for him but fading from a good finish is never what any rider desires. Luke was able to reverse his fortune in moto 2. He wouldn’t start the race strong this go around, he would finish it that way. On the opening lap Renzland crossed the line in 17th but was making moves by the time a few minutes were off the clock. He battled back and forth for a good portion of the race before he began his big push from 15th with 3 laps to go. He made 3 passes on as many laps to finish the race in 12th and earn a 12th overall. Through 3 rounds he was unable to crack th top 15 twice in one day, he has now done it and done it late in a moto. His new found consistency could help propel him to another good finish next weekend.
