>> Venezuelan born, Lorenzo Locurcio, came off the first break of the season looking to improve on his finishes. The series made its way to the east coast for the first time in 2017, where Locurcio should feel more at home since he spends his time training in the southeast at Millsaps Training Facility, where the soil and humidity are very similar to what he would see in round 5 at High Point. After going 20-18 for 21st overall
at Thunder Valley he was looking for rebound race in round 4. The day would start off muddy for everyone in qualifying and it led to struggles
for some but advantages for others. Lorenzo was one of the riders that struggled with the tricky conditions. He qualified 27th which meant he would have one of the less desirable gate picks. Nonetheless, he made a decent start in moto 1 but was shuffled back to 17th by 5 minutes into the moto. He was unable to improve his position and ended up losing a spot late in the race and finished 18th. He has top 15 speed so anything short of that isn’t what he and the team are looking for. Moto 2 would start much better for Locurcio and it would finish where he knows he belongs. The Yamaha rider would come across the line in 15th on the opening lap. Late in the race is when Lorenzo made his moves after only moving into 14th , 30 minutes into the moto. With 3 laps to go he went from 14th to 11th. His late moto heroics helped land him inside of the top 15 overall, finishing 14th with 18-11 moto scores. Next weekend should be another place where he feels comfortable as the series continues in the southeast.
