COMING IN HOT TO 2022
WORDS MIKE BLEWITT PHOTO GERARD LAGANA
The new year is here with a fresh horizon for everyone. Probably the most exciting news is that Australia should be completely open for domestic travel in early February, with Western Australia’s hard border to be lifted. We had an editorial team on the ground for our Western Australia Road Trip that is featured in this issue, and the trail developments in the west are nothing short of phenomenal.
Perth is the most isolated capital city in the world, and the trail towns our editorial team visited in the south west of Western Australia are even further out. But just because these locations aren’t right in front of the much of the Australian population, it doesn’t mean they lag behind. Far from it. From the jump lines at The Goat Farm, to
the high speed flow trails and natural trails at Dwellingup, and of course the mecca that Collie will become with their huge amount of mountain bike trails and options for outdoor pursuits – the south west is really engaged with mountain biking and those who love to be outdoors. There’s a lot to see and do in Western Australia, and we even have a competition so you can win your own road trip to see it all for yourself!
The year ahead holds a lot of promise, with new events on the calendar, new trails to ride, and further engagement with land managers for more trail planning so we can enjoy the wide variety of natural environments that Australia has to offer.
Here’s to a great year ahead – see you on the trails!
