Tiffany Alberts Sentenced To Seven Years For Putting Feces In Her Son’s IV Bag
By Meko Haze
On Thursday, 44- year-old Tiffany Alberts was sen- tenced to seven years in prison and five years probation for six counts of aggra- vated battery and one charge of neglect for inject- ing feces into her teenage son’s IV bag. Alberts’ sen- tence comes after she was acquitted of attempted murder in September.
In 2016, Riley Children’s Hospital contact- ed police after Alberts’ 15-year- old son kept developing unex- plainable blood infections while being treated for Leukemia. Blood tests revealed
organisms found in feces.
On November 17, 2016, a nurse observed Alberts on surveillance video injecting something into her son’s IV bag. About an hour and a half later, Alberts again injected some-
thing in the IV bag. Alberts claimed she started injecting feces into the IV bag on November 13, 2016.
Initially, she claimed she was injecting water into the IV bag to “flush the
line” because his
medicine “burned .”
Alberts later admitted to col- lecting her son’s feces and inject- ing it into his IV bag. She claimed she was doing it to get her son moved to a differ- ent floor so he would get better
treatment. The infections from the feces forced doctors to halt Albert’s son’s chemotherapy for about 55 days, which placed him at a high risk for his leukemia relapsing.
Investigators found a gift bag
containing fecal matter on the bathroom sink in Alberts’ son’s room. It was also reported that detectives found diarrhea medica- tion and weight loss pills in Alberts’ personal belongings.
