Missouri Lawmaker Files Bills Requiring Some Residents To Own AR-15s, Handguns
By John Bowden
A Republican lawmaker in Missouri wants to require adults in his state to pur- chase handguns and AR-15 rifles.
Two bills intro- duced by state Rep. Andrew McDaniel would require residents to purchase firearms while providing $1 mil- lion in tax credits on a first-come, first-served basis to residents who fall under the law.
The first bill,
the McDaniel Second Amendment Act, would
require Missouri r esidents aged 21 or older to pur- chase a handgun.
It also would allot up to $1 million per year in tax credits for resi- dents who pur- chased weapons to comply with the law. The bill was filed in late February.
The second bill, the McDaniel Militia Act, was filed days after the handgun bill and would require Missouri resi- dents aged 18 to 35 to purchase an AR-15. It also would
provide a tax credit of up to $1 million per year to incentivize the purchase of weapons.
While the bills do not specify any penalties for adults who refuse
to comply with the provisions, both stipulate that the Missouri Department of Revenue can "promulgate rules to implement the provisions of this section." The bills would sunset in six years if not extended by the state legislature.
They would not apply to felons or residents other- wise prohibited from owning firearms.
Both bills have received two readings in the Missouri House but have no hear- ings or further action scheduled so far, according to the state House's website.
Government Withholding 84-year-old Grandmother’s Social Security Claiming She Owes $224K in College Debt
A 84-year-old grandmother Mamie Walker has not been received her monthly social security check, which is the Tampa, Florida native only source of funds.
The government claims she owes hundreds of thou- sands for her col- lege education. However, Walker claims she
never even attended college. The last two months, she has not received her monthly $1,498 check and got a
letter claiming that “collection action” has been taken against her because she owed the Treasury Department $224,414.50.
The grandmother has been told that she won’t be receiving another check until Sept. 2031.
“I’ll probably be dead by then,” Walker told News Channel 8. “I’m so scared. I don’t sleep at night because I’m so scared next week ... my lights are
going to be off.”
Walker’s son Morrison Walker has attempted to notify the Treasury Department of the error.
“I work and I try my best to help her with her bills, but now this hap- pened and I have my own bills, and she don’t have no income and now they’re trying to put eviction on her house, her water bill sky- rocketed, her lights are going to get cut off,” Walker said
