If You Type a Racist Phrase in Google
Maps, The White House Comes Up

Over the years, Google has experienced several map mishaps.
In April, a park in the shape of an Android robot urinat- ing on an Apple logo appeared in the program's map of Pakistan.
Another jokester put Edwards Snow Den — a play on NSA whisteblower Edward Snowden's name — hiding inside the White House.
This latest map prank, however, may say more about the state of race relations in the U.S. than cyber security.
Search a version of the n- word and "house" on Google Maps, and the app directs you to The White House. And, in case you
thought it was mistaken, the map adds some detail: "Iconic home of America's President."
The offensive search result had Twitter abuzz with rage Tuesday afternoon.
In the past, many of the jokes reportedly originated with Google Map Maker, an
online map-editing tool that was shut down earlier this month after an onslaught of spam attacks with obscene edits.
Representatives at Google did not immediately respond to U.S. News' requests for comment, and has not responded to outraged
