Egyptian Woman Is Imprisoned For 3 Yrs For ‘Sexually Harassing' A Monkey
An Egyptian court has sen- tenced a 25- year-old woman to three years in prison for 'sexu- ally harassing' a monkey in the country's north, state daily Al- Ahram reported Friday.
A court in Mansoura city charged Basma Ahmed with 'inciting debauch- ery' and 'commit- ting an obscene act in public', a judicial source told the newspa- per.
She was arrest- ed in October after a 90-sec- ond video of the incident went viral, particularly among young people and stu- dents, Al-Ahram said.
The video shows Ahmed laughing while touching the genitals of a monkey at a pet shop in the Nile Delta city and making sexual innuendos as people around her chuckle.
At court she 'confessed... to the incident but said she did not mean to commit an indecent act and that she had been tickling the monkey'.
The video sparked a fierce backlash online in the conserva- tive Muslim country.
Ahmed was ini- tially detained for four days, but public prosecu- tors increased
the period to 15 days to 'further investigate the case,' Stepfeed r eported.
Officials said that Ahmed is not a first-time offender and has previ- ously been charged in two other 'public moral' cases.
In her statement to prosecutors, the defendant claimed she had not meant to abuse the animal and had been surprised by its reaction.
She also claimed that although one of her friends had filmed her, the video had been posted on the internet with- out her knowl- edge.
Artie Lange Shares Pic of ‘Deformed’ Nose Due To Drug Abuse
By Christine Burroni
Artie
Lange tweeted a cautionary tale on Christmas Day.
The comedian, 51, took to Twitter on Tuesday with a photo of his col- lapsed nose.
“This is it but I believe her nose had a septum and had not been hideously deformed due to over 3 decades of drug abuse,”
he wrote.
Earlier this month,
Lange tested positive for cocainewhile serving four years’ probation for heroin pos- session. He was spared a jail sen- tence for violating probation.
When the court received the results of the drug test, the comedian — who has been extremely open about his past
drug use — didn’t deny that he did cocaine.
“I wouldn’t be arrogant enough to come in here after using cocaine for two days,” he said during the New Jersey hearing. “It’s in my system and it shouldn’t be.”
A rep for Lang did not immedi- ately respond to a request for comment.
