‘I’m a Good Kisser,’ Sen. Franken Wants You to Know

“I’ve always thought of myself as a pret- ty decent kiss- er,” Sen. Al Franken told reporters at a media confer- ence today, “which is why I’m somewhat taken aback by Ms. Tweeden’s negative depic- tion of my efforts. I mean, I’m deeply sorry about every- thing. I’m espe- cially sorry that she didn’t enjoy it. But I think she might be under- rating my skills.”
Sen. Franken came under fire this month after
radio anchor Leeann Tweeden accused him of forcibly kissing and groping her during a USO military enter- tainment tour in 2006. A former comedian who gained fame
on Saturday Night Live, Sen. Franken vigor-
ously apologized to Ms. Tweeden, but added that he remembers the incident dif- ferently than she does.
The Democrat from Minnesota made himself available to jour- nalists in a Washington, D.C. hotel ball-
room today hop- ing, as he said, “to clarify any ambiguity about anything.”
“I’m a little con- cerned that this incident involv- ing Ms. Tweeden will result in my con- stituents believ- ing they have put a crummy
kisser in office,” Sen. Franken stated. “I’d like to make it clear that nothing could be farther from the truth.”
BSNews fol- lowed up on Sen. Franken’s remarks by ask- ing, “When you say ‘pretty decent,’ do you
mean ‘good’? Would you say you’re a good kisser?”
“I think I can say that. Yes,” Sen. Franken replied. “I’d say good. I’d say exceptional, really.”
BSNews pressed the sen- ator for details on what he believes makes for a good kiss. After a pause for a brief private discussion with an aide, Sen. Franken replied, “That’s a good question. A real- ly good one. I’ll need to get back to you on that.”
