Michigan Farm's 12-acre Corn Maze Spells Out 'COVID GO AWAY'
By Ben Hooper
Aug. 13 (UPI) -
- A Michigan pumpkin farm awaiting its fall reopening remod- eled its 13-acre corn maze with a timely message: "COVID GO AWAY."
Johnson's Giant Pumpkins in Saginaw said the corn maze was remodeled in anticipation of the business' planned reopen-
ing Sept. 12.
The farm said in a Facebook post that guests will be able to send a message to the coronavirus by visiting the maze when it opens. "Stomp out 'COVID GO AWAY' as you wander through the 13-acre corn maze this fall," the farm said in a Facebook post.
Owner Gerald Johnson said the
message should also serve as a reminder to be safe as the virus continues to spread.
"It's still out there, we still have to be careful, we still need to wear masks where needed, and just be aware of it and take reason- able precau- tions,"
Johnson told WNEM-TV.
Michael Jordan Shoes Auctioned For $615,000, Setting New Record
By

Aug. 14 (UPI) - - A pair of shoes worn by Michael Jordan during a 1985 exhibition game broke a world record when they sold for $615,000 at an auction.
Auction house Christie's said the Nike Air Jordan 1 High sneakers, worn by the bas- ketball legend during an exhibi-
tion
game in Trieste, Italy, were auto- graphed by Jordan
and described by the auctioneer as "a one-of-a-kind Michael Jordan artifact."
The shoes were billed as especial- ly unique due to a shard of glass embedded in the sole of the left shoe as a result of Jordan shatter- ing a glass back- board with a
force-
ful slam dunk.
The $615,000 final price for the shoes broke a record set by another pair of the player's shoes, which sold for $560,000 ear- lier in 2020.
Christie's said another pair of Jordan's shoes, worn during a 1992 game, sold for $112,500 as part of the same auction.
