FloatingWheelchair Built For DisabledGoldfish
A goldfish suffering from swim bladder disease has been given a new lease on life by an aquari- um worker.
Derek, a 20-year- old in San Antonio, said the fish had permanent swim bladder disease, caused by bacteria or parasites, and was stuck at the bottom of its tank.
The disease affects a goldfish's floata- tion stability, mean- ing it loses its buoy- ancy and floats to the top of the tank, leans on one side or swims upside down.
Derek told
BuzzFeed he decid- ed to create a "one- of-a-kind wheel- chair".
"I got some air line tubing that people usually use in their tank and just placed it around the gold- fish. I added some valves to the bottom of it, which acted as a 'chair' to prop him up. I added weights to the bottom of the 'chair' and some- thing to keep him afloat on top [styro- foam], and slowly removed pieces until I achieved just the right buoyancy to make it easy for him to swim around without feeling like he's dragging
around a chair."
"Think of goldfish as the pugs of the fish world," Derek added. "Pugs have unique features due to the way they were bred, but it also causes them a lot of medical prob- lems - same with goldfish!"
Derek's friend Taylor Dean, who makes a living from educa- tional animal videos on YouTube, tweet- ed about the wheel- chair.
The tweet has been shared 26,000 times.
DonaldTrump“FeelsGreat”About CriticismOf Spending Millions On Mar-a-LagoTrips, SaysSeanSpicer
By Will Worley
Donald Trump “feels great” about spend- ing his time at Mar- a-Lago, his spokesman Sean Spicer has said.
Since his inaugura- tion, Mr Trump has spent at least seven weekends at the so- called ‘Winter White House’ in Florida.
The estimated secu- rity costs of each trip are more than $3million and local law enforcement has also struggled to deal with secur- ing the local town of Palm Beach for the President.
Mr Spicer was asked by Fox 5 if Mr Trump was con- cerned about “push- back” he received from the costs asso- ciated with the trips and if this had influ- enced his decision not to attend Mar-a- Lago last week, or
to visit this week- end.
He replied: “No, he [Mr Trump] feels great.”
The President’s recreational trips stand in strong con- trast to his com- ments made on the campaign trail last year, when he said he would “rarely leave the White House because there’s so much work to be done”.
But Mr Trump has made no indication of halting his trips to his Florida property.
Yet concerns abound over how the Presidency can properly function at the resort. There was outcry after Mr Trump’ messy response to a North Korean missile test was documented on social media by Mar-a-Lago guests in the same room.
On the same trip, a guest posted a pic- ture of himself to Facebook posting with a military offi- cial who apparently was carrying the nuclear codes.
It was recently announced the Government Accountability Officewill examine security procedures of the Secret Service at Mar-a- Lago and the costs of the government employees travel- ling there.
The projected cost of security for Mr Trump’s visits over a four year presi- dential term was reported to be an estimated to be $600 million. This is just over the amount his adminis- tration plans on cut- ting for social, edu- cation and cultural programmes.
