By Associated Press
BALTIMORE
— A police offi- cer stopped a man who was walking oddly down the street with bulging pants and found that he had 21 live hom- ing pigeons stuffed in his clothes.
Thomas Waddell, 25, was charged Tuesday with
stealing 30 hom- ing pigeons, val- ued at $300, from a neighbor, John Styron. Waddell was also charged with stealing 40 homing pigeons worth $2,400 late Monday from William Allen of Baltimore.
“He looked like the Michelin tire ad,” said Officer Ronald Pettie, who stopped Waddell. Pettie
said that, as he approached the suspect, Waddell was stuffing a pigeon down his pants.
After he was arrested, Waddell began shaking and pulling pigeons from inside his pants, Pettie said. In all, he pulled out 21 live pigeons and five dead ones.
KANKAKEE, Ill. (AP) — All it took for one fugitive in Illinois to turn himself in was a little photo manip- ulation.
WBBM-TV in Chicago reports that the Kankakee County Sheriff’s Department posts notices about fugitives on its Facebook page each Wednesday.
This week, the department post-
ed a picture of Brandon W. Conti. The 25- year-old was wanted for failure to appear on a drunken-driving charge.
Conti commented on the post and asked, “Where’s my costume?”
Sheriff’s office staff then edited the photo to add a sailor suit and a hat that read, “Ahoy.”
An officer wrote, “We held up our end of the bar- gain.”
Conti replied with laughing emojis, noting he would turn himself in “before noon” and asked that police “have the paper- work done and ready.” The department con- firms Conti subse- quently turned himself in.
