The life of SMART Tool Group started over 43 years ago, when Stephen Suckling established a power tool importing and supply company.
His incentive: To provide value for money solutions for New Zealand’s growing building and civil construction industry.
This guiding principle is still our guiding vision today – over 46 years later!
Since its foundation in 1976, the company has grown from a one-man business, into a significant multi discipline, family owned company. With its head office in New Zealand, and offices in the UK, The Netherlands and Sweden.
It is a remarkable achievement to build a business from your dining room in New Zealand to a point where it has offices in four countries. We made a lot of mistakes, we have learnt a lot along the way, we had a lot of fun and today we love serving our ever growing network of over 4000 distributors across the world.
In the early 2000’s there was a major change in one segment of the power tool range – the oscillating tool – a small but unique operating concept that many of us were familiar with when we had a plaster cast cut off our leg or arm!
This major development gave the Suckling family the opportunity to develop a range of oscillating tool accessories to meet the demands of this newly found unique operation concept.
In 2008, SMART Tool Group was established to manufacture and distribute their own oscillating tool accessory designs.
