The difference is in the detail with this top bathroom
Natalie Du Bois of Dubois Designer Kitchens & Interiors in Auckland (www.duboisdesign.co.nz) also took out Supreme Bathroom Design in the 2022 NKBA Excellence in Design Awards for this moody, intimate guest bathroom renovation, a real “wow” space, one of three in the Auckland home.
As with Natalie’s winning kitchen, texture is again to the fore with materials including dark burnished metal-look porcelain tiles and a lighter grey rock-salt porcelain tile that flows from the hallway into the bathroom and up the back wall.
The freestanding bath has its own tumbled natural stone wall with a long, recessed shelving niche behind the bath.
The Bengal black stone vanity top is another feature element, especially
detailed to achieve a rock edge and featuring bags of storage below. The mirror, tapware and bathroom fixtures were chosen for their soft,
gradual curves and smoked bronze lighting, door hardware and doorstops were specified to work with the gunmetal tapware.
The judges said:“This enchanting space plays with clean curves and rough edgy elements clashing together to create a place of wonder.
“A clear winner, there is texture and a natural moodiness.
“The use of light has been well considered, and the finishes are luxurious with industrial handles and wonderful tap fittings.
“Executed to the highest standard.”
