                                                          Movers & shakers
Staffy has a trio of movers & shakers this month.
Kelly Ninow has recently taken on the role of National Sales Manager. Having joined Staffy three years ago as Lower North Island Territory Manager, he has “contributed
greatly to the business’s growth and strategy”. To keep his finger on the pulse, Kelly will continue to look after the Hawke’s Bay, Taupo and Gisborne territories.
Territory Manager for the Lower North Island and Upper South Island, Duane Old comes to Staffy with 18 years under his belt as a Combat Engineer and Construction Tutor
in the NZ Defence Force, as well as four years as a Trade Representative for Mitre 10 in the Manawatu.
Last but not
least, after a year with Staffy, initially Dunedin-based
Ben Mackie
has relocated to Tauranga as Territory Manager for the Upper North Island
and Lower South Island. Ben’s trade experience comes from working for a roofing manufacturing plant and later for a couple of major trade merchants.
The year’s top young plumbers (L:R):
Roy Bates; Andrew Bright; and Alex Hyland.
Who are 2019’s brightest young plumbers?
ANDREW BRIGHT FROM Christchurch has been named as the 2019 Plumbing World Young Plumber of the Year.
After a close competition in Hamilton, Andrew outperformed nine other competitors from around the country to win his share of $25,000 worth of prizes, including a trip for two to Beijing.
The Young Plumber of the Year competition recognises not only proficiency on the job, but passion for the plumbing industry.
The competition saw the 10 Finalists go head to head in several skills tests, installing a basic bathroom in a matter
of hours, and a written theory test at WINTEC’s Centre for Trades.
The 28 year-old, employed by Warwick Kirwan Plumbing, is stoked with his win and credits his employer.
He says: “I’m ecstatic! I competed last year so to be able to win it the second time around is incredible. This year was even harder than last year, it would have been such a close competition and I feel really lucky to win.”
In second place was Alex Hyland from Gisborne and third place went to Roy Bates from Taumarunui.
