The judges were impressed by Store Manager Collin McCool’s growth as a retailer in a short time, and how he has “kept his people focus and shown significant ability to adapt to suit the market and his store’s circumstances.”
Collin himself credits his team for making his life and experience at work “fantastic”. “But it’s great to be recognised because I’ve put as much passion as possible into what
I’ve been doing for the past few years, and I do feel I’ve accomplished a lot.”
Collin’s medium-term goals remain unchanged: “The big one is to create more leaders and encourage our existing ones to further develop their careers. And further down the track, I hope to be able to replicate the Whangaparaoa success in a bigger store with even more people.”
