DR LISBETH JACOBS has been appointed to the BRANZ Group Board of Directors. General Manager – Innovation & Sustainability at Fletcher Building, Lisbeth lls the Board vacancy created
by outgoing Director, Pamela Bell, who has now completed her three-year term. Says BRANZ: “Pamela’s focus on driving innovation in design and construction processes has been of immense value to BRANZ during the development of our digital futures road map. We would like to acknowledge and thank Pamela for her signi cant contribution.”
Antony Smit (above) is the new President of the Hire Industry Association of New Zealand (HIANZ). HIANZ Board member and current COO of Hirepool, he was unanimously voted to the position at a board meeting following the association’s AGM. Antony succeeds long-time HIANZ President, Tim Mikkelsen. Ant Smit brings to his new role 20+ years’ experience in the hire industry including 10 as Hirepool’s Southern Regional Manager and prior to that experience in the event hire industry in the UK and New Zealand.
ITM has appointed Stanley Street as
its new creative agency. Juliana Raven, National Marketing Manager at ITM, says there was a natural synergy between the independently locally owned companies: “At ITM we have over 90-stores nationwide that are independently
owned and operated so it’s important
that our creative agency understands
the uniqueness of our co-operative, and can champion our local stores in future campaigns at both a national and local
level. Stanley St’s unique New Zealand- owned story signaled that they would be a great match for us and we’re excited to appoint them as our new creative agency.”

From early next year, Nick Traber becomes the new Chief Executive of Fletcher Building’s Concrete division. Replacing Ian Jones, who will remain
with the Group, Nick currently leads LafargeHolcim, where he has played a key role in transforming the business, leading “programmes focused around innovation, sustainability and digitalization”. Ian Jones will remain in his current role over the coming months to support the leadership transition, after which he will stay with Fletcher Building in “a new role focused on strategic growth”.
Warren Trethewey is Red Stag Wood Solutions’ new Business Development & Sales Manager. Formerly bizdev manager at Nelson’s Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) panel maker Xlam, Warren comes to the new role armed with a “wealth of experience in CLT and engineered wood products” and will be driving this newest arm of the Red Stag business.
Industry personality William (Bill) Taylor (above) sadly passed away in July, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Bill was a hardware industry icon for no less than 47 years, during which time he enjoyed senior roles with Odlins, Mitre 10, PlaceMakers and Crighton ITM. He also held management roles at Burns Philp Papua New Guinea, and Elders Building Supplies in the Gold Coast and Brisbane. Bill will be remembered for his can-do attitude, his charismatic personally and for the strong relationships and friendships he built in the industry, many of which lasted a lifetime. the new national polytechnic, whose placeholder name is the NZ Institute
of Skills & Technology (NZIST – see https://vocationaleducation.ac.nz/). Helping shape and run this new national vocational education hub (based at Wintec in Hamilton) are six Deputy Chief Executives (DCEs):
