“With many Kiwis being time-poor,” explains Gemma, “we are seeing continued demand for products that are convenient and easy to use.
“We’ve seen this with the popularity of our range of Pour & Feed fertilisers for indoor plants. is range is a ready-to-use formulation, so no mixing, or additional equipment is required.”
ORGANIC PRODUCTS EVER-POPULAR
With the warmer weather, containing weeds will be a priority for many homeowners. Yates’ acquisition of Organic Crop Protectants has seen OCP’s agship weedkilling product Slasher become available to retailers after gaining regulatory compliance.
“Slasher started as a commercial product in Australia
where food crop growers have very high regulations if they’re exporting,” David Mortimer explains. “It was a long regulatory journey here, too, as this is a unique active into the NZ market.”
Still the e ort has been repaid, with David saying that retailers have been “very positive” about Slasher.
“ ey are very keen to see technology come into the weedkiller space that isn’t the traditional glyphosate,” he xaplains.
“If speed is your driver, it’s good, but that market factor is already catered for. Slasher has pure organic credentials rather than just being organically certi ed, and it’s fast. It o ers both purity and performance.”
Martin Steel-Brown, owner/manager of Auckland-based specialist in small garden design and maintenance, City Botanics (www.citybotanics.co.nz), says demand for organic garden products has been steadily growing for many years.
