OUTDOOR POWER BUSINESS
CHANGES TO BOTH the Biscount team and to the program itself have future-
proofed the product offering, says Steve Fairbrother, leaving Biscount dealers “the true winners”.
It is fair to say that 2019 was the most significantperiodofchangeexperienced at Biscount within the past two decades. A management change saw the original creator retire, with the company now owned outright by Peter Lowe, who has been instrumental in growing Biscount over the past 26 years.
The first major piece of work completed in2019wastherebrandingofBiscount, along with changes to the business webpage and main screen of the program, based on feedback from the Biscount dealer base.
Another major inclusion for Biscount dealers was integration with the CAMA Products dealer web portal, bringing the
ability to order parts from the CAMA range directly from Biscount, and upload the order directly into the CAMA portal, minimising double-handling.
Other major work has allowed Biscount dealers to export accounting data to
Xero, simplifying an often difficult area ofrunningabusinessfordealersand potentially reducing accountants’ fees.
What’s on the cards for 2020? Based as usual on feedback from customers, Biscount says there will be a continued emphasis on improving both efficiency and accuracy, including:
• Refinedworkshopjobinput–Anew
“drasticallyrationalised”approach
will allow dealers to input information critical to each workshop job, previous pre-set book-in questions having been removed. This new approach aims to reduce the traditional bottle-neck which can occur during workshop book-ins.
• Electronicwarrantyregistrations
for more OPE suppliers – Electronic warranty registrations (already available for Husqvarna NZ Dealers) will be expanded to additional manufacturers throughout 2020, saving dealers countless hours of manual warranty registrations.
• Additionalinterfacestosupplieronline ordering systems – Ordering interfaces allow dealers to electronically order parts, workshop jobs and inventory direct from Biscount, reducing double- handling of information and making the end to end ordering process fully electronic.
• IncreasethelistofsupplierswithPDF invoicing support – Biscount currently imports PDF invoices from 65+ Australasian outdoor power, motorcycle, marine and agricultural suppliers.
PDF importing drastically reduces the time taken to receive stock and update supplier accounts, whilst eliminating the
errorsthatcomewithmanualinput.
Says Steve Fairbrother: “Considering the plans already in the pipeline and the progress made within the year, there is no doubt that 2020 will follow suit as Biscount continues helping dealers save time and increase profits.”
