  Navigating a disrupted landscape
We caught up with Husqvarna Sales Manager Steve Middleton as he was navigating his way through a disrupted landscape with Omicron starting to impact short-staffed freight and courier companies and delaying the distribution of stock and customer orders.
“At least plenty of stock arrived through the Christmas/New Year period and it’s been well received by customers and the dealer network,” Steve reports.
“It came as welcome relief and we’re now in a good space from a stock perspective and our sales performance for the first quarter is looking equally good.”
What’s the market sentiment at the moment? Positive by the sound of it: “Everyone got the good summer they wanted but we almost got a second spring with the volume of rain in February that has left some parts of the country looking unseasonably lush in March.
“Such conditions have been favourable for driving the business and the focus for products like chainsaws will ramp up this
autumn with a fresh round of promotional activity.”
In this respect the Husky team are currently talking to dealers about the newly launched 592 XP professional model (see page 011) which represents “a solid upgrade in 90cc performance and features,” says Steve Middleton.
Traditionally, April to July is a key window for chainsaw sales but with springtime and summer being the best times to prepare
dry firewood, Steve says Husqvarna is now seeing consistent chainsaw sales through
to December and the 592 XP will be complemented by the launch of another similar model later in the year.

“Cordless uptake will continue to grow,” he insists, “as battery technology advances with
