global eyes EDRA signs off supply chain Code GLOBAL DIY PEAK organisation EDRA has signed off its Code of Practice on Responsible & Sustainable Supply Chains for the Home Improvement Industry. This Code sets a common standard across EDRA members’ supply chains, with a focus on fair working conditions, protecting human rights and environmental best practice. John Herbert, General Secretary of EDRA/GHIN, says: “I am delighted that the EDRA Board Members have now signed the Code of Practice as I believe that our EDRA/GHIN members are dedicated to taking responsible action in protecting the environment and ensuring fair conditions to all our business partners.” The Code of Practice is an initiative of the DIY Platform, in which EDRA/GHIN members collaborate on sustainability challenges within their shared supply chains. www.edra-ghin.org Brits continue to shift online The UK’s equivalent of Stats NZ (the ONS) just reported on the UK’s uptake of online retail for March 2019. The total value of online spending increased by 12.4% for the month, with all sectors showing growth, except food and household goods stores. The month-on-month picture shows a similar trend, with total growth of 8%. Most interesting, and showing how much further developed the online UK market is than New Zealand’s, sales as a percentage of all UK retail spending was no less than 18.6% in March 2019, half a percent up on February. The retail sectors seeing the largest proportion of online spending included Household Goods (13%), All Non-Food (14.7%) and, unsurprisingly, Clothing (18.5%) with almost 12% year on year growth in online spend. https://www.ons.gov.uk Want to talk to us?
