Opportunity knocks
IN SILVERDALE
In 2017, Riviera Prenail – part of the Riviera Group of companies that owns and operates Mitre 10 MEGA Albany, New Lynn, Warkworth and Mitre 10 Whangaparaoa – purchased Timber
Building Solutions.
An independent frame and truss fabricator in Henderson,
Auckland, this was a small and very manual factory with limited opportunity for growth.
Fast forward to May 2021 when Riviera Prenail is opening its brand new, purpose-built facility in Silverdale, Auckland.
With around 3,000m2 of factory floor space, combined with offices, meeting rooms, team facilities and an extensive yard, the new site represents a considerable expansion on the Henderson location.
There have been challenges brought on by the Covid pandemic but, working with Teak Construction, the construction partner on the factory build, the project has stayed on track, says Riviera’s General Manager – Trade, Simon Haggitt.
Riviera has also invested in the latest machinery, including a Hundegger Turbo Saw and semi-automated framing and truss lines from Spida to speed up production and provide a safer environment for the team.
On top of this substantial investment, plans are in place to introduce more innovative equipment post-Covid and when the international borders are reopened.
ACCREDITED MITEK FABRICATOR
Riviera Prenail also conducted a complete review of its operations and through this process put the hardware supply out to tender.
Managing Director, Cam Caithness, says: “We have put a significant focus on the prefabrication side of our overall business.
“During the review of our supply chain business partners we were impressed with the service, ambition, and technology that MiTek had to offer.
“We are pleased that Riviera Prenail will be an accredited MiTek fabricator at the new Silverdale site.”
WANT TO BE PART OF THIS?
The new Silverdale facility will create many more jobs, including opportunities for Detailers, Estimators, as well as Machinery and Yard Operators and to this end recruitment is ongoing.
Peter Grove, General Manager of Human Resources & Development, is fizzing to be leading the recruitment drive for the project: “The opportunity to join a fast growing, innovative company in a brand new, best-in-class facility is exciting for those in the industry.”
Joining Riviera Prenail not only offers an opportunity to be part of this journey from the start, but there are also buying privileges at the Riviera-owned Mitre 10 stores and Columbus Coffee cafés!
With a core client base that values quality frame and truss, quick turnaround and competitive prices, the investment made by Riviera will enable the prenail team to deliver on that promise, every job, every time.
