Birth Certificate. Death Certificate. One Pen.
- Khan Faizan
AA in English for Professional Communication (CCCU)- year 1
Jimmy was a young man with his wife at the hospital when his son, Zach, was born. A proud father he was. He proudly got his son’s birth certificate, signed by his truly.
First words his son spoke, “Dada”, Jimmy’s face grew a smile. A genuine smile, full of joy. He went to kiss his son, sitting on his wife’s lap.
Zach’s going to high school now. Poor Jimmy was always bothered with work, didn’t get enough time with his son. “I’m earning for the family.” he would tell his wife.
Zach had to move away to study abroad for a couple of years. Poor Jimmy was still working hard, earning for the family.
Final year for Zach to finish college. Jimmy was counting down the days with his wife, thinking of ideas to surprise his son Zach when he comes back.
As the days went by, a letter came. A letter came and it had broken Jimmy’s heart. His poor son, Zach, had died in a car crash.
The death certificate came. Something Jimmy was never expecting to see. “Should’ve been the other way round.” he would think.
