After the rather awkward conversation through Whatsapp, she later invited me to have lunch with her in her classroom during the following Thursday. So, to speak, “Rosie” was allocated into the academically smart class where most of the students with the top grades are. So, when I had entered into her classroom, the resemblance felt similar to stepping onto foreign land. Moreover, at that moment I could have been labeled as the “black sheep” of the flock, because I witnessed the gaze of confusion and disapproval out from the crowd. However, as a youngster who was driven by love. I could not have been bothered by mere judgement from strangers.
Our first lunch date ended up leaning more towards the positive. Three of her closest friends had also accompanied us, to ensure that the whole experience would not end up in complete silence or awkwardness. In fact, they were quite welcoming upon my visit. Rosie and I shared a few things about each other. But one thing that stood out the most was our hatred towards school lunch. Why you may ask? Because, firstly, the vegetables were bland and always diluted in an unknown liquid substance. Secondly, the name of the dish would often sound attractive on the menu but only to be presented with utter disappointment. In the midst of our rant, the school bell rang and our lunch date was officially over.
The next day, we went on our first date. Personally, I believe that it was contributed by our pleasant lunch discussion from the day before. Otherwise, we would not have been seeing each other again
in such short notice. Before I arrived at her place to pick her up, my heart was racing, and my mind was filled with unrealistic scenarios. I waited by the mall as she requested me to. Moments later I saw her standing outside the glass doors looking for me. She was wearing light blue denim shorts with a black T-shirt that was tucked in. I went to her and suggested holding her hand while walking around the area. To my surprise she did not object to the suggestion. Henceforth, we began our first proper date.
We walked for a few hours until Rosie proposed to eat dinner. As unromantic as it may sound, we had dinner together at the nearest McDonalds. To be fair, if I had known that we would eat dinner, I would have done some homework beforehand about where we could possibly eat. Nevertheless, Rosie ordered her favorite chicken nuggets and I got myself a chicken fillet burger. After our sponta- neous meal, I walked her back to her place. We then said our goodbyes even though she did not like saying that word out loud. But before we departed, she left me a kiss on my right cheek. I was left absolutely stunned, but ever so pleased.
Fast forward to two years, Rosie and I went through nearly everything that we could together. I was also her first in many aspects, including kisses, boyfriend, and intimacy. Unfortunately, at present day, we are not together anymore. Due to her new lifestyle composed of work and University, we barely had time for each other. Although she had made a tough decision to let go, I thought it was not the right choice. Hopefully, I will see her soon for a hearty reconciliation. Afterall, your first love will always be so special.
