Message from Editors
Have you ever wondered about why this magazine is called "Kaleidoscope"? In fact, I have had this ques- tion in my mind while discussing with my editorial team.
What is so special about the name "Kaleidoscope"? Why did the founders name this magazine the way it is? Is there any connotative meaning within this term? All I knew was a bunch of colours and shapes mashing up together to form an art piece.
So, with these questions in mind, I took some time looking for answers, at least understand what Kaleido- scope truly is.
Lines. Shapes. Colours. It all starts with a core, either circular or triangular, or just merely a small dot. The core illuminates, radiates outwards to form lines and shapes with different colours, like a radiant sun. It goes on and on and on, without any hint of rest.
As I picture Kaleidoscope and Literature together, that seems to make sense.
The "core" of this magazine is a compilation of stories and poems with distinctive and unique styles and genres. The core seems to be the place where Literature lovers join together and write their own stories free- ly.
But, in order to let others know the beauty of Literature, we have to share. Distinct genres, distinct styles, distinct vocabulary, distinct techniques, they all represent the various colours, shapes and lines that the core radiates outwards.
Kaleidoscope, in my humble opinion, serves as an art museum, showing artworks that carry their own meaning, their own history, their own character, their own style to the world to see.
With all that said, this might be the reason why this magazine is called "Kaleidoscope" since it might po- tentially carry this deep meaning.
Looking at the cover of this magazine is like looking into all the colourful shapes in a kaleidoscope. As you turn the pages, the kaleidoscope turns, creating unique colours, shapes, and patterns.
To everyone who is reading this magazine, I sincerely hope it inspires you to write your own stories, and spread the beauty of Literature to anyone.
