Page 18 - SB-Penny Perfect
P. 18
Sally’s web looked different than Penny’s. Sally was not interested in being perfect. But like Penny, she was also not interested in just doing her
best. Sally wanted to “Just get by” with as little effort as possible.
Sally probably spent a lot of time trying to figure out how little she could do without getting into trouble. I have seen that a lot with you humans. You spend more time figuring out how not to do something than you would spend just doing it.
It was easy for us to see that Sally’s web was not going to work. But Sally told herself that it was just fine. She told herself that her pitiful web would catch the weak or near-sighted bugs.
Do you really think that Sally believed what she was telling the teacher about catching the dumb bugs? I don’t. I believe that was how Sally kept herself from feeling bad about the poor job she was doing.
