Page 5 - Whoos A. Fraid
P. 5

Fraid started off like all the other little owl chicks. He lived with his family in an old hollow tree. His parents took good care of him and made sure that he had food and was protected from danger. When Fraid and the others were very young, they stayed in their nest and life was pretty easy. As they grew, they needed to learn owl things. This is when the story gets interesting.
Owls, just like all other animals, have to be taught how to be successful. In this particular group, that task of teaching was handled, in the most part, by a wise middle aged owl by the name of Whoos D. Smartest.
I may have failed to mention that owls always put their main names (the one they go by) last. Well anyway, Smartest really enjoyed teaching the young owls. He would start with small easy tasks and gradually work up to the more difficult ones.
This technique and the lessons Smartest had used, always worked well. All of his students learned all they needed to learn to be successful owls.
They learned things like food recognition, hunting methods, flight skills and so on. As I said, he had always been successful but then again, he never had a student like Fraid.
