       “Why all the fuss about a beach ball”, I asked. “Cosmos,”
he replied “That ball may have been on this beach for weeks and no one bothered it. But today, one crab, for whatever reason, decided to start pulling it toward his home and all of the others then ran over to the ball and are trying to take it from him.”
I had seen this type of behavior sometimes with other crows and fairly often with children on the playground, so I knew that there were words for what was happening on the beach.
“I know what is happening!” I told Carl. “They are being SELFISH and JEALOUS!” Carl looked up at me and said, “Great words but what do they mean?”
