Good Thinking
I waved at my teacher again and she flew over. I told her that I wanted the shiny thing so that my nest would be special and everyone would talk nice about me and my nest. I realize that I made myself angry and that Carl was not doing anything wrong.
Then my teacher asked, “So Cosmos, what will you tell yourself next time this happens and what will you do.”
I wanted to tell her that it would not happen again but
I knew that was not true so I thought about it for a minute.
I would tell myself, “I don’t need to get upset about not having the shiny thing and that I should keep on working to make my nest look nice. Carl probably did not know that I wanted that piece of shiny stuff. But even if he did know I wanted it and that he took it just to be mean to me, I would not let myself get upset just because he was not being nice.”
