The demanding child that always wants their way
may be called a “spoiled brat” but will continue that behavior that others find annoying. Being demanding may occasionally work and accomplish what the child wants to happen. Even though you may punish their behavior, if their thinking does not change, “I should have what I want when I want it,” their unacceptable behavior will continue (but maybe only when you are not around).
The child that sees every inconvenience as a major issue may be referred to as “too whinny” but they may also continue in their annoying behavior pattern. It is often easier for an adult to “take care of the problem” then spend the time and energy to help the whinnying child learn to deal effectively with a difficult situation.
These children may in time see themselves as unable to successfully deal with difficulties or that others should remove the difficulties for them.
This story gives an understandable explanation that if you continue in these types of behaviors, others will not want to be around you and you may become “extinct”. And that it would be far better to learn the skills of the “Glad Dinosaur” and stick around with us.
