P. 22

Use the Playful Paul story to help your children learn that it is often necessary to put off immediate “fun” for a long term goals. Studying instead of watching television may mean better grades, a better job and a better life.
Encourage your children to think about the consequences of their choices. “Paul made the choice to not pay attention, to play and entertain the zoo visitors rather than learn his lessons. Now that you know that he did not get to leave the zoo with his friends, do you think he wished he had done things differently?”
The lessons of Playful Paul can help your child avoid the disappointment experienced by Paul in the story. All it will take is a little time and a little effort. With your help they can succeed and it will be well worth it.
