(Your parents blame you for something that was not your fault.)
4. They are wrong but that is life. No one can be right all of the time. I’m not going to make myself upset because of their mistake.
(You did something or failed to do something and have gotten in trouble.)
5. It is my fault that this has happened. I need to learn from this and not get angry about the punishment. I will accept the consequences and not try to get out of it. It is not the end of the world.
Finally, don’t associate with others who have Stinky Thinking. You don’t need to be ugly to them but if you associate with them, such as Wanda did in the story, you will not learn how to overcome your own Stinky Thinking. You may feel more comfortable with those who have similar Stinky beliefs but you need to evaluate if their thinking makes any sense.
When others agree with your Stinky Thinking, it makes it easy to stay with your Stinky Thinking, even if it is causing you a lot of problems. Write the names of three children you know who are patient and persistent. Now, plan how you can spend time with them... and do it. You need to have friends who will help you remember that Patience and Persistence are Positives.
