WORKSHEET
The worksheets continue with Cosmos explaining that teaching is a much better way of dealing with conflict and frustration. If you get into the habit of tattling , it is very difficult to stop. This will cause others to avoid you and will limit your coping skills.
The first question is giving the child en a coping self-message designed to counter the typical Stinky Thinking that precedes tattling , “They don’t want to share with me and that is their choice. I am not going to make myself upset and will just find something else to do.”
It is important that children who have the habit of tattling learn more appropriate coping self-messages as well as learning about when it is and is not appropriate to tell a grown up.
By helping them learn these coping self-messages, by coaching
and modeling them, your children will understand why Cosmos tells them, “You may not be pleased that the others would not share, but you should be able to keep yourself from becoming angry or very sad.”
