Your teacher “eats elephants” every day. Your teacher must get to work on time. They have to know the material for several different classes everyday. They have to deal with classroom problems and still be able to teach their class. Teachers have to monitor the halls and cafeteria.
They have to be stern with some of you and kind to others. They have to make sure you understand your homework. When your teacher goes home he or she has to grade papers and prepare for the next day’s classes. Your teacher has to “eat” a lot of elephants every day.
Some children are slow to learn how to divide tasks and quick to see problems. The goal of this exercise is to teach you how to divide any task into manageable parts so that you do not overwhelm yourself. Life does not come in equal sections of effort or intensity. You must learn this lesson or you will be like the Young Man and throw away your “Brick of Gold .”
