I was interested in how Aunt Sis and Uncle Clifton might have known each other, and my research shows that Uncle Clifton’s mom was May Cannon – daughter of Thomas Cannon and his wife Rosa (Metz) Cannon. The Craig’s, Sparks and Cannons are intertwined throughout our history. This gets a little confusing if you are not familiar with the names, but I am very familiar and now it all makes sense to me.
Two uncles of Uncle Clifton married two of Colmore Craig’s stepdaughters: Richard Cannon married Flossie Courtney and Earl Cannon married Mabel Courtney. (Their mom was Lora Courtney – Aunt Mildred’s mother)
Uncle Clifton’s parents were Louis Kraus and Novella ”May” Cannon. Louis was 41 and May was 26 when Uncle Clifton was born.
Louis Kraus was married to Mary Elizabeth Moore January 30, 1900 and they had 2 children, Adrian Edward and Corrine E. Mary died in March 1909 at the age of 31. In 1910 Louis and their 2 children lived with his sister Caroline and her husband. On September 29, 1911, Louis Kraus married Novella May Cannon. They had 5 children: Clifton, Howard, Louis Robert, and twins Mary Ruth and Ruby.
